Corrosion Technician

What we are seeking:

EARTHRES is seeking a Corrosion Technician in our Morgantown, WV office. The ideal candidate will work primarily within our Energy Services sector, but will support all other EARTHRES sectors with Technician needs.


Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Vocational or Technical school classes in a mechanical field of study is preferred;
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is required. The experience can be in the form of general labor in the Oil & Gas industry but candidates with experience conducting corrosion surveys and having knowledge of corrosion control equipment (i.e., pipeline locators, rectifiers, volt meters) are strongly preferred;
  • Willing to travel to client sites as the candidate will be expected to perform a variety of tasks both in the office and in the field related to Oil & Gas design and operational support services;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk 1 mile or more at various inclines and terrains;
  • Critical thinking ability and attention to detail;
  • Willingness to be a team player and assist with other sectors or other groups when needed;
  • NACE, CP1 or CIP 1 certification is preferred and will be required within the first 6 months in the position;
  • Ability to work at minimum intermediate level for Microsoft Office programs;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;


Job duties include:

  • Conduct tests on bare pipelines to determine condition of the line;
  • Submit recommendations to rectify deficiencies to gain compliance for pipelines;
  • Conduct bi-monthly and annual inspections on rectifiers and interference bonds;
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with and without supervision;
  • Test all aboveground piping annually for atmospheric corrosion, including compressor station piping;
  • Conduct tests to identify electrical interference problems on Cathodic Protection systems;
  • Install, maintain and repair components of a Cathodic Protection system;
  • Conduct inspections and maintain recordkeeping for both external and internal corrosion reports from leak repairs;
  • Assist on compliance projects, especially in the design and specification of Cathodic Protection Systems;
  • Perform lock-out and tag-out procedures;
